About
Report
The name "American Driving School" actually dates all the way back to 1949! Originally started by an automobile manufacturer, they believed that offering driver's training to customers and helping them to get their driver's license would promote new car sales. The modern American Driving School was established in 1982 and graduates over 1,000 new drivers per year from many parts of the San Diego area. This school and the El Cajon Driving School are both owned and operated by DIJIT Enterprises, Inc.

All of our Instructors are DMV licensed and bonded, but we go far beyond minimum requirements. Each Instructor is trained according to our internal Training Program developed over our years of experience, with continuous review at regular staff meetings and during training conferences with the Driving School Association of California.

Driver Tips
Report
Weather forecasters are predicting a very wet Winter this year, maybe continuing into the Spring. We're not used to a lot of rain in San Diego, judging by the driving behavior we see all around us. The Basic Speed Law says you can't drive faster than "it is safe" for the current conditions. You can't see as far ahead in the spray; reduce your speed about 20% (5-10 mph on city streets; 10-15 mph on the freeway).
