Opening its doors in 1974, Midwest Driving School is one of the oldest commercial driving schools in the state of Kansas. For the past 40 years, we have taught thousands of students the knowledge and skills to protect themselves from accidents and to promote a quality Driver Education Program. Our mission is to work together to ensure the highest quality of instruction to Kansas drivers and to fully prepare our students to live safe and accident free lives when they exit our school.Midwest Driving School's motto is "Drive to Arrive Alive."
Our Team Report
A man of humble beginnings, Larry hails from Blue Mound, Kansas and has called Lawrence his home since 1985. His goal is to give back to the community by providing quality and affordable Drivers Education to everyone. He has driven thousands of students and is now enjoying the loyalty of second and third generations of students who bring their children, siblings and grandchildren to our school. He received an Associate of Arts Degree from Fort Scott Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Pittsburg State University.
Class Schedule Report
Students need to attend 8 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving. Anyone can attend the class without a permit. We will provide and print a paper permit at the end of the 8 hours of successful classroom instruction. Farm permit: Students need to complete the whole Midwest Driving School program.

Highly recommended driving school. The communication is smooth and quick. My driving instructor was Jhoanna, she is very calm, patient, and kind teacher, she definitely helped me to reduce my anxiety from driving. Both instructors for online portion were very knowledgeable and the class was captivating.

This class is wonderful! I am glad I chose to take this course instead of drivers ed through my high school. With my instructor in course, and on the road, they were helpful and made the time VALUABLE! I learned so much. 5 stars! Recommend.

My instructor was Johnny Beane for the class. I really enjoyed the class and learned a decent amount, kept my attention the entire time. He was entertaining yet very informed. I highly recommend this school.

Johnny was my driving instructor and made it very easy over the 8 hour class my group took. He was very good at giving examples to certain senecios and made it very easy for us to recognize our next step. Very thankful to attend at this driving school!

Johnny was my instructor and he was AMAZING! Very informative, caring, empathetic, and willing to explain things in detail without making his students feel like a burden. I highly recommend Midwest Driving School to anyone that is nervous or scared about getting their license. MDS is also adult-friendly which is a huge plus!

Had Johnny for the 8:30am through 5pm class today and he was an amazing teacher. He made sure everyone knew what everything was and what needed to be known and also added in some examples to give us an idea on what he was talking about. Super nice and easy.

I had Johnny as my teacher in the General Knowledge course and he did a wonderful job at immersing us within the little time we had on zoom. While in class, the gravity and seriousness of driving really sunk in. However, throughout it all, a lesson that Johnny emphasized really spoke to me. It is important to distinguish fear from awareness. It is important that one does not fear the road and has confidence in their own abilities. I had Johnny Beane for my class and I loved it. My focus isn't the greatest, but today went really well. He elaborated on certain topics and was very thorough to make sure we all understood what was being taught. It felt like it went so fast, but I had such a great experience!

Was such a good experience! I had Johnny as my instructor and he was such a calm and fun teacher. He helped me understand road rules and understand the safety of driving 100% better. Defiantly would recommend to any driver. 10/10

Johnny was an incredible teacher. I had a blast during the eight hours I was in the meeting for. I've learned more in the time that I spent in this course than I ever have in my day-to-day life. My son took this course 2 years ago and my daughter Avry just completed it this last weekend. 5 star class, instructors and behind the scenes staff. Completely worth the cost and we look forward to our 3rd daughter completing the class when it is her turn. Thank your for teaching our kids confidence behind the wheel!

This was my first online class experience and it was very easy to follow along. Johnny has a ton of knowledge and you could tell that he could talk to people for days on end. He is the right person to be teaching this class.
